How to read these figures
- Asset 52-week position
0% means near the 52-week low and 100% means near the 52-week high.
Assets without 52-week data are not shown. The position describes a past range and says nothing about direction.
- Asset returns by period
One week and one month are calendar periods (7 and 30 days). If the start date was a market holiday, the close of the previous trading day is used.
Year to date compares with the last close of the previous year. Coins trade around the clock, so only 1 week (7 days) and 1 month (30 days) are shown for them.
This compares past returns. It does not forecast or promise future returns.
- Correlation between assets
Near +1 means two assets moved in the same direction, near -1 means they moved in opposite directions, and near 0 means there was no clear link.
Pearson correlation of daily returns over the last 90 days. Pairs without enough data show -.
Assets that trade at different hours are compared on closes of the same date.
This is a statistic of a past period. The same relation may not hold in the future.
- 52-week position spread
Each stock is placed in one of five bands by where its current price sits between its 52-week low and high.
Stocks without 52-week data and stocks whose prices stopped updating are left out of every band. When there are any, their number is shown above each region.
The sample is the largest companies by market cap, so it can differ from the whole market.
- Market valuation
Medians by metric for a sample of the largest companies, so they can differ from whole-market statistics.
The number in brackets is how many stocks were counted for that cell.
A cell with fewer than 3 stocks shows -.
A median is the middle value of the sorted sample. It does not show how widely the stocks are spread.
PER or PBR of 0 or below means losses, negative equity or a missing value, which is not the same as a small value, so it is left out. A ROE of 0 can also be a missing value and is left out.
Dividend yield counts only stocks that pay a dividend. Counting non-payers as 0 would skew the comparison between markets.
This page puts stocks, coins, commodities and currencies side by side, but each asset class is priced and updated in its own way. Showing returns next to each other compares how each moved over the same period. It does not mean one is better than another. Grades on stocks and grades on coins share the same letters, but none of the inputs overlap. The correlation figures summarize how closely two assets moved together over a recent period. The relation may not stay the same.
